Team Naane Varuvean had announced yesterday that the film's teaser will be unveiled on September 15. Amid speculation of the movie clashing with Mani Ratnam's multi-starrer flick Ponniyin Selvan, we hear that the Dhanush-starrer will hit the screens on September 29, a day before the magnum opus releases in theatres.
An official confirmation on the release date is still awaited albeit makers have made it clear that the film will arrive in September. Producer Kalaippuli S Thanu reaffirmed the movie's release this month yesterday as well, leaving Dhanush fans elated.
Now, they have revealed that senior Tollywood producer Allu Aravind's Geetha Arts has acquired the Telugu theatrical rights of Naane Varuvean. The film's Telugu version has been titled Nene Vasthunna. The team also posted a picture of Thanu and Aravind posing for a photo.
The last few films of Dhanush did not have a simultaneous release in Tollywood, and his fans were slightly upset about it. They hope that Selvaraghavan, who is a known name among Telugu audiences, will be able to attract film lovers with his story and screenplay. His first Tollywood movie Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule which was released in 2007 is still considered as one of the finest family dramas.
Naane Varuvean will be Dhanush's third outing this year and second theatrical release of 2021. Maaran, his first release this year, which was dropped directly on Disney+ Hotstar, opened to negative reviews, while his recent movie Thiruchitrambalam turned out to be a super hit.
The actor has teamed up with Selvaraghavan for Naane Varuvean after Mayakkam Enna which was released in 2011. Their latest collaboration has story penned by him and will feature him in dual roles for the first time.
