Nani is one of the most bankable stars in Telugu cinema, and his last three films have each grossed over Rs 100 crore at the box office. Currently, he is working on two major projects: HIT 3 with director Sailesh Kolanu and The Paradise with Srikanth Odela. Among these, HIT 3 is all set to release on May 1, 2025.
Latest update on Nani's next with Cibi Chakravarthi
We at OTTplay had earlier reported that Nani was in discussions with Tamil director Cibi Chakravarthi for a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film. The project was confirmed as Nani was highly impressed with the script. The prestigious production house Mythri Movie Makers, known for backing big hits like Pushpa, was roped in to bankroll the film. However, according to our sources, the project has now been called off.
Delving into the details, Cibi Chakravarthi reportedly took advances from several producers in Tamil Nadu following the success of his film Don. However, he did not honor some of those commitments and instead shifted his focus to Nani’s project. A source close to the producer’s team revealed that this situation has put Cibi in a financial crisis, as he owes a significant amount to the Tamil producers.
Due to these complications, Mythri Movie Makers decided to withdraw from the project. Additionally, Nani, who is already occupied with two ongoing films, has also opted to put the project on hold for now.
Despite these setbacks, sources indicate that Nani is still interested in the story and is actively in touch with other producers to revive the project. However, as of now, the film has been postponed indefinitely and may even be shelved.
Nani busy with back to back projects
Meanwhile, Nani is gearing up to start shooting for The Paradise, directed by Srikanth Odela. The film’s teaser, which was released recently, has garnered widespread attention for its bold dialogues and intriguing premise. Apart from this, Nani has not signed any new projects yet, and it remains to be seen where the Cibi Chakravarthi film will fit into his plans.
On the other hand, the trailer for HIT 3 is expected to drop soon, further heightening the excitement among fans. The pre-release business has peaked and there is a massive buzz for the OTT deals. Nani's films do quite well on OTT and films like Eega are the most watched on OTTplay Premium.
