Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, the latest film of Pa Ranjith, has now started streaming online. The acclaimed movie was released in theatres on August 31. Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan play lead roles in the film which has Kalaiyarasan, Shabeer Kallarakkal and Hari Krishnan among others enacting important characters.
The movie marked director Ranjith's first theatrical release in the post pandemic era, his last outing Sarpatta Parambarai had a direct OTT release last year. Natchathiram Nagargiradhu had evoked curiousity among movie buffs ever since its unique first look was unveiled. Its trailer escalated hype for the film even further.
Its story revolves around a theatre group comprising youngsters who hail from different communities and walks of life. How they evolve progressively as individuals after getting to know each other forms the major crux of the story.
The film touches upon same sex love, LGBTQIA relationships, complexities involved in it and how society interprets their lives various in conservative ways. The screenplay, music by Tenma and performances of lead actors are a few aspects in the movie which impressed cinephiles. However, the film deserved a better run at the box office considering the appreciation it garnered from various quarters.
Natchathiram Nagargiradhu has dropped on Netflix on September 28. An excited Ranjith took to his social media handle to share the news by tweeting, "NatchathiramNagargiradhu is now on @netflix! Enjoy and immerse yourself in this journey with the stars (sic)."
Though it was confirmed earlier that Netflix had bagged the movie's digital rights, neither the makers nor the OTT giant had informed about the online premiere date. A Kishor Kumar and Selva RK have handled cinematography and editing respectively for the movie which has been jointly bankrolled by Vignesh Sundaresan and Manoj Leonel Jahson along with Pa Ranjith.
