Actress Nayanthara, who is famously known by the moniker Lady Superstar, addressed the baggage that comes with the title, in a recent interview. Nayanthara, who is one of the top-tier actors in South cinema currently, is not known to give interviews. However, in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress spoke about the title and its baggage.
Nayanthara, who is one prominent actor, goes by the title Lady Superstar fondly by her fans. Even as the monicker comes with responsibilities, she, in a recent interview said, “That is another controversy. The kind of backlash I have had just for the title is unbelievable. For the past 5-6 years, I have been telling my producers and directors not to put the title card, because I am just scared. My career is not defined by that title, or I am not away snatch someone's title. It does not mean anything to me. Maybe a bit, because of the love and respect people have it for me.”
She also said that she might not be the best of actors or performers, but "it is unfair" to put her on the spot. "I always try to understand what is the problem when you see a successful woman, but there is a problem,” she added.

Nayanthara said she takes it with a combination of happiness and sadness, as she addressed the hatred that comes her way. On the positive side, the actor says that when she sees women doing well in their respective fields, it is like a "personal win".
Nayanthara, who has headlined several films and established a name for herself, was last seen in her documentary film Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, which is streaming on Netflix. The documentary film explores the early stages of the actor's career to her wedding with director Vignesh Shivan.
