Nayanthara's Netrikann confirms release on Disney+ Hotstar on August 13

The actress's previous outing in Tamil, Mookuthi Amman, was also released directly on Disney+ Hotstar.

There were reports that Aval fame Milind Rau's Nayanthara-starrer Netrikann might go the OTT way. The trailer of the film, which was released by the makers on Thursday, confirms that it will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on August 13. Produced by the actress's beau, director Vignesh Shivan, the film has Ajmal, Manikandan and Saran among others playing pivotal roles in it. Sharing the trailer from his social media account, Vignesh said that "If creating thrillers is an art, then our director Milind Rau is a Picasso in it" and added that the film has one of the best performance of Nayanthara till date. The actress's previous outing in Tamil, Mookuthi Amman, was also released directly on Disney+ Hotstar.    

The two-minute trailer has the actress, who plays a visually-impaired person in it, filing a complaint against a cold-blooded criminal at a police station. The movie's plot revolves around how she faces the criminal who is hell-bent on finishing her. Ajmal, who was last seen in Nungambakkam, plays the antagonist in the movie. Netrikann's teaser was released last year and the makers had released the song Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum a month ago. 

Vignesh Shivan has also written lyrics for the songs which has been composed by Girishh Gopalakrishnan, while RD Rajasekar has handled cinematography for this suspense thriller. Lawrence Kishore is the editor of the movie which has stunt choreography by Dhilip Subbarayan, art direction by S Kamalanathan and dialogues by Navin Sundaramurthy.  

Nayanthara will team up again with Vignesh for the multi-starrer flick Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which will have Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha, too, essaying lead roles in it. Besides, she has Siva's Annaatthe in which she will be seen sharing screen space with Rajinikanth for the fifth time. The movie is expected to have a theatrical release on November 4.
