After weeks of uncertainty and a lot of speculation surrounding the release of actor Prabhas’ Salaar Ceasefire, produced by Hombale Films and directed by Prashant Neel, the banner finally cleared the air and announced that it would be in theatres on December 22. This is only the first of a two-part saga, which has already been delayed by three months. As soon as this was announced, though, social media was abuzz with rumours that the banner’s upcoming slate with Prashant would include Salaar 2 as well as KGF: Chapter 3. It was said that the team was looking at going on floors with the third instalment in the KGF saga as early as October 2024.
Netizens, though, reckon that it is unlikely that KGF: Chapter 3 will happen so soon. In 2022, shortly after KGF: Chapter 2 had released and gone on to become a monstrous hit, Hombale Films founder Vijay Kiragandur has said that the team would reconvene and take the third film on floors in October of that year. Given that Yash continued to sport his Rocky Bhai trademark long locks and beard, fans thought that there could be some truth to this. But then Yash clarified that he was looking at giving Rocky Bhai a break for a while and that he wanted to do something else before returning to his most successful role to date. Also, Prashant was committed to making films with Prabhas and Jr NTR. So, KGF: Chapter 3 was put on the backburner in favour of Salaar.
Yash is yet to commence work on his next, #Yash19, with an official announcement expected in October 2023. The film is likely to go on floors by November-December and if the timeline for KGF: Chapter 3 has to align, the Rocking Star will have to wind up his next in the first half of the year. Given how long he has taken just to finalise all aspects of the film, netizens say that there is no way that Yash will do a rush job on actual production in order to accommodate KGF 3. Also, if his look for #Yash19 does not include long hair and a beard, it will take him some time to get back to the Rocky Bhai look. One set of fans also say that much as he likes KGF and what it did for his career, Yash does not want to be bound to only one franchise and may do another film, #Yash20 before returning for Chapter 3.
