US-based actor Sendhil Ramamurthy, best known for playing geneticist Mohinder Suresh in Heroes, Bloodwork on The Flash and Never Have I Ever’s Mohan, among many others, will soon be seen in his second Hindi film in over a decade. Sendhil, who played an NRI who returns to India in Raj & DK’s Shor in the City, which he shot for way back in 2009, was in India last year for a new project. This time around, it was for the romantic comedy Do Aur Do Pyaar, directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurtha, which will be in theatres this March. The film, which also stars Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi and Ileana D’Cruz, is the Indian adaptation of the 2017 film The Lovers.
Earlier today, the first look of Do Aur Do Pyaar was revealed, following which Sendhil took to Instagram about his return to Hindi cinema. One of the film’s producers, Tanuj Garg is Sendhil’s friend, and he had sent the actor the script. “I loved the character and the idea of filming in India again for the 1st time since 2009,” wrote Sendhil about taking up the project. Sendhil had come to India in November 2021 to work on the film. At the time, he had shared a picture with Tanuj and captioned it, “3rd film with this fem of a human. Can’t believe it. Shooting at Mehboob Studios, one of the oldest film studios in Mumbai.”
But the definitive clincher was that Vidya Balan is a part of the film. “I have been a fan of Vidya Balan for a long time. She’s India’s Meryl Streep as far as I’m concerned. I can’t believe I got to work with her; It was an amazing experience,” he wrote, adding that having Pratik and Ileana on the cast was the cherry on top. Incidentally, Sendhil’s first day of shoot was for the poster that was revealed today. Do Aur Do Pyaar will be in theatres on March 29, 2024
