Nikamma saw Abhimanyu Dassani channel his inner action hero yet again. The actor recently opened up about how he tries to stay away from stereotypes and does not want to be put into a box.
In conversation with PTI, Dassani spoke of the films he had done. While his debut film, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota(2018) was a ‘festival film’, Meenakshi Sundareshwar was a romantic movie under Karan Johar’s Dharma banner. The actor said that his new release Nikamma was different from the two, as it was a ‘commercial hero’ movie. "I will break the tag that people will give me”, said Dassani.
Dassani went on to talk about how he would ‘break’ every box people tried to put him in. But as this was a ‘long term’ goal of his, it required a lot of patience and self-belief on his part.
The actor went on to talk about how he considered even auditioning for a role as a ‘performance’. As a result, he enjoyed the whole process, although he knew he had a long way to go. But despite that, Dassani considers it an ‘adventure’ which he said he would face smiling.
Dassani also revealed that he was happy with the way his career is moving right now. Saying that he does not ‘plan’ things, he said that he was a great believer in the phrase ‘slow and steady wins the race’.
Nikamma, which also stars Shilpa Shetty and Shirley Setia, is now playing in theatres. After its theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on Netflix, although an OTT release date is yet to be announced.
