Nithya Menen has won hearts with her sweet, girl-next-door performances. But now, she is all set to play a soup girl (someone who is unlucky in love, made popular by Dhanush's hit Kolaver Di song) in her next. Yes, you read that right. The actress has signed to play the reading role in director Kamini’s next. Touted to be a fantasy romantic comedy, the film will have Prateik Babbar, Vinay Rai, Navdeep and Deepak Parambol in key roles.
What is Nithya Menen's new film all about?
Director Kamini, who has worked as an assistant director to Shershaah director Vishnuvaradhan, revealed that her upcoming debut directorial will revolve around a soup girl played by Nithya Menen and the challenges she faces in relationships. The film will also show different things from a woman’s perspective. The director emphasised that since most films have showcased a man’s side of heartbreaks, this film will be the other way around—it will showcase a girl’s side of the story. According to Kamini, the film will have Nithya Menen’s character learning to navigate through the hardships she comes across in relationships to find her true self.
On the technical front, Preetha Jayaraman will be handling the cinematography, while Shanmugaraja will be handling the art direction. The film is bankrolled by BGN, Aditya Ajay Singh and Ramki.
Now that Kamini’s directorial is in her kitty, fans cannot wait to witness what Nithya is going to deliver with this interesting tale.

Nithya, who has amazed us with her impressive romantic roles, will also be seen in director Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi’s Kadhalikka Neramillai, opposite Jayam Ravi. Earlier, the actress had expressed her joy of working in a "relaxed atmosphere". While stating that actresses in mainstream cinema are subject to a lot of limitations, Nithya said that many such norms are broken in the Jayam Ravi film. She remarked that working with Kiruthiga has been a very comfortable experience and that everyone was cordial and happy on the set.
