Nivin Pauly on Pharma: This Malayalam series is beyond entertainment, it's a tale about the next generation

Popular Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly forays into the digital world with the web series Pharma, which was officially launched during the South Unbound event of JioHotstar on Tuesday. The series, which has been in the news for a while, also features Hindi actor Rajit Kapur who returns to Malayalam industry after a long hiatus. Speaking about the upcoming series, Nivin said that it is a tale about kids and that the families must watch, and would offer more than just entertainment.

The upcoming Malayalam series, Pharma, will be released on JioHotstar on December 19, 2025. OTTplay Premium subscribers can also watch the series from next Friday. During JioHotstar’s South Unbound event on Tuesday, Nivin said, “The theme of the series is about kids - it is about their life, their future. A series that talks about the next generation. I felt the script has a lot of value. This is beyond entertainment.”

Pharma is touted to be a medical series, revolving around the pharmaceutical industry, with Nivin playing a medical representative.

Nivin, the father of two children, went on to say that all families need to watch the series. The Sarvam Maya actor also shared that he almost missed the event because his child had to undergo surgery earlier in the day. 

Pharma also features Rajit Kapur in a key role. For those familiar with the 90s Malayalam cinema would know that Rajit Kapoor played the lead role opposite actress Shobana in 1999. On returning to the Malayalam industry after 25 years, Rajit said that it was an instant decision for him.

Crediting the script and the fresh approach that prompted him to give his nod, Rajit said, “It did not take very long for me to say yes to Pharma. An actor follows his instinct.” His quick decision even surprised the makers

Malayalam actors Narain, Shruti Ramachandran, Veena Nandakumar and Muthumani are also part of the series, which is helmed by P R Arun.
