The pre-release event of Jayam Ravi's upcoming film Iraivan was held recently in Chennai and the occasion had many big names in attendance. One of the guests for the evening was Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi.
Vijay Sethupathi was the original choice for Bogan
At the event, the Maharaja actor revealed that he was supposed to play Arvind Swami's character in the fantasy action thriller Bogan (2017). The film, which had Jayam Ravi, Arvind Swami and Hansika in the lead, was written and directed by Lakshman. The plot revolved around a thief who has the power of astral projection and Arvind Swami played the character to a rousing reception from the audience.
Speaking at the event, VJS said, "The team approached me first for the role, but I was unable to take it due to date issues. I hope I get to do dual hero subjects along with Jayam Ravi in future."
Jayam Ravi wants to direct Vijay Sethupathi
Jayam Ravi, in turn, said that Vijay Sethupathi was the first name to come to his mind when he planned to direct a film. He also asked for Vijay Sethupathi's dates so that the duo can work together. The camaraderie between the two actors have won the hearts of many.
The hit combination of Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swami
Bogan went on to become a commercial success. It is to be noted that Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swami's combination had worked wonders at the box office for Thani Oruvan. The film marked the Roja actor's stupendous comeback, this time around as a suave ruthless villain. His character Siddharth Abhimanyu became a name to reckon with.

So, when the sequel was announced, Arvind Swami was the first person to wish the team. However, fans wondered if he would find a place in the sequel as the actor's character died in the first part. Fans are hoping for Arvind Swami's comeback in one way or the other in the film.
