Malayalam megastar Mammootty recently confirmed that his upcoming film Kalamkaval will release in theatres on November 27, 2025, much to the excitement of the fans. Now, another Mammootty film is also set to hit theaters next month, but it is a re-release of the actor’s iconic film. The film is Amaram, which featured one of the most poignant performances of Mammootty.
Mammootty’s Amaram to re-release in theatres
Amaram is a Malayalam film, starring Mammootty in the lead role, which was released in 1991. Now, over 34 years later, Amaram is set to re-release in theatres on November 7, 2025. The film will re-release in 4K exactly 20 days before Mammootty’s Kalamkaval, which also features Vinayakan, makes its big screen debut.

However, when his daughter leaves him to be with her love interest, Raghavan, Achootty is left all alone and heartbroken. Maathu plays the daughter in the film, along with Ashokan KPAC Lalitha and Murali.
The moving performances of the cast, the portrayal of life of the fishermen and the climax when Achootty ventures out into the sea to bring back Raghavan are the biggest highlights of the film, which was also a commercial success.
Another Malayalam film to be re-released recently was Mohanlal’s Ravanaprabhu which has attracted good number of viewers and raked in profits.
Mammootty’s Kalamkaval
Mammootty’s Kalamkaval is helmed by Jithin K Jose. Vinyakan plays a police officer in the film, which will see Mammootty in grey-shaded character. The film, touted to be a thriller, has been censored U/A16+. Fans are waiting for an update on the Kalamkaval trailer, which has also completed censor formalities.
Mammootty’s son Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming film Kaantha will release in theatres on November 14, 2025. The actor-director DQ had backed the film Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, which turned out to be a phenomenal success.
