Earlier this year, Kannada filmmaker R Chandru had presented superstar Kiccha Sudeep as a daring police officer called Bhargav Bakshi in his much-hyped gangster flick Kabzaa, which, however, did not work at the box office. The film was widely panned for being a ‘cheap copy of KGF’. Chandru was planning it as a multi-part venture, with the second instalment to be led by the characters played by Sudeep and Shivarajkumar.

In his cameo as Bhargav Bakshi, Sudeep was shown in modern day as a police officer telling a bunch of rowdy-sheeters the tale of gangster Arkeshwara (Upendra) who was a big deal in the underworld of the 80s. Bhargav was the officer charged with the task of taking down Arkeshwara and audiences had pointed out that despite the 40-year time since those events, modern day Bhargav did not look a day older. Fans of both actors had, however, urged them not to collaborate with Chandru on Kabzaa 2 and while there was no news on that film’s development, on the eve of Kiccha Sudeep’s birthday, the filmmaker announced that he was making another film with the star.

Chandru, we hear, will direct Sudeep in a pan-India film, based on a script that has been okayed by filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s father, Vijayendra Prasad. The film will be officially announced on Sudeep’s birthday tomorrow, September 2. Chandru promises that the project will have a global movie concept. An announcement on when the film will take off is expected shortly. Given that Sudeep turns 50 tomorrow, a bunch of announcements are expected, starting with the title of #Kiccha46, his collaboration with KRG Studios and more.

Vikrant Rona maker Anup Bhandari, who is committed to make Billa Ranga Baasha with Sudeep, took to social media earlier today to clarify that his film will not be announced now and has been put on the backburner for the time being, as Sudeep prioritises a bunch of other films.
