A trade source squashes rumours that two other Telugu stars were approached for the film before the RRR star

Over the past couple of days, there has been controversy revolving around if RRR's Jr NTR was the first choice or not for War 2, which also stars Hrithik Roshan.
The film, which is being produced by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films, follows other films of the YRF Spy Universe, such as Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), Pathaan (2023), and Tiger 3 (Diwali 2023).
OTTplay had reported yesterday that before Jr NTR, two other Telugu stars were approached for the Ayan Mukerji directorial — Baahubali's Prabhas and Liger star Vijay Deverakonda.
Now, in response to yesterday’s article, it is being reported today that no one else apart from Jr NTR was ever considered to be a part of the sequel to the 2019 film, War.
Pinkvilla has quoted a trade source as saying that Jr NTR was Aditya Chopra's first and only choice as the other leading man for War 2. In fact, the script (which we reported earlier was tweaked before Jr NTR was approached) was written keeping the RRR star in mind, which is why the sequel to War is a fight between two superstars: Hrithik and Jr NTR.
"The talks with Jr NTR were in progress for the last 5 months, and the things finally materialised on paper in March," the source was quoted as saying.
The source added that if Jr NTR had turned down the War 2 offer, his character in the film would have been rewritten, for which another actor from the Hindi film industry would have been cast.
