Operation Romeo is heading to OTT this month. The romantic thriller film, directed by Shashant Shah, is the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Ishq.
The film follows the story of a young couple who find themselves in a precarious situation when two people claiming to be police officers invite themselves into the former’s vehicle. As the couple continue their journey, they have to deal with the distasteful behavior of their unwanted hitchhikers, and a series of unfortunate events follow that do irreparable damage to the duo’s relationship.
Sidhant Gupta and Vedika Pinto star in leading roles, along with Sharad Kelkar, Bhumika Chawla and Kishor Kadam in pivotal roles. The film, which marks Pinto’s feature film debut, was directed by Shashant Shah. In a statement, the makers had talked about how the film was inspired by real life events of moral policing that the youth of the country find themselves having to face. The film is produced by Shital Bhatia and Neeraj Pandey under the production banners of Friday Filmworks and Plan C Studios. Pandey is popular for helming films such as A Wednesday(2008) and M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story(2016).
Operation Romeo is the Hindi remake of the 2019 Malayalam film Ishq, which starred Shane Nigam, Ann Sheetal, Shine Tom Chacko and Leona Lishoy in lead roles. Directed by Anuraj Manohar and written by Ratheesh Ravi, the Malayalam film can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

Operation Romeo was released in theatres on April 22 . The film will be available to stream on Netflix on June 17.
