It was last year that Suriya was invited to join The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as one of its committee members. He proudly accepted the invitation and announced on social media that he will strive to continue doing inspiring works. The Jai Bhim star is the first actor from Tamil to have attained the recognition.

The likes of Kamal Haasan and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin among others congratulated him for the prestigious honour he was bestowed upon with.

Now, the actor has exercised his voting rights for the first time and has shared the excitement with fans on Twitter. The last date for Academy members to vote for 95th Oscars Finals was March 7, and Suriya has voted for his favourite people. He also shared a screenshot from the website which displays that he has completed voting.

His fans are excited to the core to see their favourite actor playing a vital role in choosing Academy Award winners of this year. The awards will be announced at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12. Though some of Suriya's fans have expressed slight disappointment over Soorarai Pottru not winning the award, they're glad that the actor has been honoured as a privileged member.

He is currently busy with Siva's Suriya 42 (tentative title), which is billed as a pan Indian project to be released in multiple languages. The period flick is expected to be released next year and fans have been regularly asking for updates from makers.

The first look of the ambitious project is likely to be out soon after which updates could be expected at regular intervals, going by a few trusted sources.
