OTTplay Awards 2025: Thalaivettiyaan Paalayam actor Abishek Kumar brings the house down with his improv

A known face among the comic and stand-up comedian, Abishek Kumar, was at the OTTplay Awards 2025, where he was conferred with the Breakthrough Performance (Male) for Thalaivettiyaan Paalayam web series. 

While there were some candid moments on the purple carpet, and a beautiful amalgamation of south and north on stage, it was Abishek Kumar who brought the house down, with his spontaneity.

While collecting his award, for his leading role in Tamil web series Thalaivettiyan Palayam, Abishek had a friendly banter with co-host Kubbra Sait. Quick to admit being an admirer, and just in time to Kubbra to dwell in her fan moment, Abishek made his hilarious revelation of how much he adores her brother Danish, breaking the audience to laughter. One could see who Abishek eased in, built a quick and comical rapport with the hosts, and showed the true spirit of making people laugh. 

Abishek, also made the best use of his improvisation skills when he pointed how the co-host Aparshakti Khurrana made Priya Mani exit within six seconds with his word of play joke.

Abishek won the award for his performance in Thalaivettiyaan Palayam. He played a young city-bred officer grappling to adhere to village life he got posted at. The series is the official remake of Panchayat.
