National Award-winning actor Joju George is all set to foray into direction with the movie Pani. The project has been officially announced and it turns out that Joju will be playing the lead role in his directorial debut.
According to rumours, Malayalam Big Boss contestants Junaiz VP and Sagar Surya will play pivotal roles in the film that is being bankrolled by M Riaz Adam and Sijo Vadakkan. Veteran cinematographer and director Venu is the cameraman for Pani; he recently returned to Malayalam films with Joju's film Pulimada.
Earlier, there were reports about Joju writing a script for Junaiz and Sagar, which would feature them as lead actors. There are also speculations about Joju collaborating with Akhil Marar, the current Malayalam Big Boss winner, for a project. Omana, a film, is based on real events from Akhil's neighbourhood. Joju also starred in Akhil's debut film Oru Thathvika Avalokanam, whhich is a political satire.
Joju George's Antony's teaser to be screened with Leo
Antony, starring Joju in the lead role, marks the second collaboration of the actor with director Joshiy. According to the makers, the movie revolves around the unconventional relationships within a family and is a tale of emotions. The teaser of the film will be screened along with Vijay's Leo when it releases in theatres on October 19.
Along with Joju, the film also stars Chemban Vinod Jose and Nyla Usha, who shared screen space with him in Porinu Mariyam Jose. Kalyani Priyadarshan will play the female lead in the film, which also features Asha Sharath.
Joju George's upcoming projects
Pulimada, directed by AK Sajan, is Joju's upcoming theatrical release. The film revolves around the relationship between a local farmer and a modern young woman. Aishwarya Rajessh plays the female lead in the film, which also stars Balachandra Menon, Jeo Baby, Lijomol Jose, Johny Antony, Jaffer Idukki, and Chemban Vinod Jose. Pulimada will be released in theatres on October 26.
