Malayalam cinema has often showcased rural settings and old-style comedies that have a special place in the heart of the audience. Pappachan Olivilaanu - directed by Sinto Sunny, and featuring Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese and Vijayaraghavan - is one such comedy film set in a rustic backdrop. Now the latest update is that the movie will be available for streaming on Saina Play from September 14. The movie follows the journey of Pappachan, a driver who gets involved in a bison-hunting case. Here are four reasons you shouldn’t miss this hilarious film on OTT…

1. Saiju Kurup features in a comic role

Saiju is known for his humorous roles in movies like Aadu, Vedivazhipadu and Android Kunjappan. In Paapachan Oliviaaanu, he plays a character similar to that in Aadu, who brags about his shooting skills. Saiju’s quirky mannerisms and dialogue delivery add more entertainment value to the film. His portrayal of Pappachan in Pappachan Olivilaanu is something similar to Shikkari Shambhu.

2. Hilarious moments in Pappachan Olivilaanu

Although the characters in the film could have been developed further, the film manages to impress the audience with its generous dose of comic moments. Aju Varghese, Srindaa, Vijayaraghavan and Prashanth Alexander are incredivle with their comic timings. However, the use of caricature-style characters works only in certain places and falls flat in the others.

3. Vijayaraghavan’s performance

Another highlight of the film is Vijayaraghavan’s portrayal of Pappachan’s father. In the film, Vijayaraghavan plays a former local shooter, who commands respect in his community. The actor did an excellent job of showcasing the character’s power while also acing his comedic scenes.

4. Prashanth Alexander as the villain

Prashanth Alexander’s portrayal of a comical villain is definitely a highlight of this movie. It’s not the first time that Prashanth has played such a role. Previously, he portrayed a similar character in Purusha Prestham. However, in Pappachan Olivilaanu, the actor successfully brings the antagonist character to life, even though the character itself is not well-developed. Overall, his performance leaves a lasting impression on viewers.
