Anupama Parameswaran is out with her new film, Paradha, which has started on a dismal note at the box office. In its first weekend, the social drama has made close to just Rs 40 lakhs at the box office, and this shows how badly the film has been panned by the audience.
Paradha starts with a negative word of mouth
To make things work, the makers met the press, and Anupama spoke her heart out against the negative word of mouth. "When it comes to commercial cinema, no one points out mistakes even though there are hundreds. But when it comes to female-oriented films, everyone becomes a critic and slams the film. There is nothing wrong in reviewing the film, but I feel there is also no need to be so negative," said Anupama.
The noted heroine was visibly upset with the way the film was panned by the critics, though her performance was lauded by one and all. Paradha was written and directed by Praveen Kandregula, who last made the hit film Subham. He too looked worried and stated that one should at least appreciate their efforts and need not be so strict with their opinion.
Paradha is about a small village where the women are not allowed to show their faces and have to cover them with a veil. How a young girl, who accidentally gets published in a magazine, is ousted from the village to prove her innocence. This aspect would have worked well if Paradha was a period drama, but the major question levelled by one and all is whether such villages exist in modern times and if it is so hard to find out the owners of a popular magazine.

All this has been showcased in a very dull manner and did not go well with the audience. Amazon Prime Video has bagged the digital rights to the film, and there is news that Paradha will be out on OTT in just a month of its theatrical release. Stay tuned for more updates.
