Parasakthi box office collection day 5: Sivakarthikeyan film sees downward trend; to witness sharing of screens for Pongal

The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Parasakthi is currently running in theatres. The film is a period political drama, and has made Rs 56 crore worldwide at the box office so far. With the film yet to finish one week run, Parasakthi will be joined by two more Tamil films to compete at box office.

Parasakthi box office collection day 5: How much Sivakarthikeyan film make?

Parasakthi is a 2026 Tamil film which hit theatres on January 10. It is headlined by actor Sivakarthikeyan and is directed by filmmaker Sudha Kongara in her first collaboration with the former.

As per Sacnilk, Parasakthi has made Rs 56.75 crore worldwide in five days. In India, the film has grossed Rs 36.2 crore and overseas Rs 20.55 crore. Ever since its first Monday, (January 12), Parasakthi has been witnessing a downward trend at the daily box office collection. Parasakthi had an opening Rs 13 crore, which was below Sivakarthikeyan’s previous two openings, Madharaasi and Amaran.

Even on Wednesday, the film made about Rs 2.35 crore roughly. While Parasakthi had a solo release at the time of release last week, the film will be joined by Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar and Jiiva-starrer Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimayil from this week. Parasakthi must begin to share screens soon.

What is Parasakthi about?

Parasakthi is a period political drama which is set in the 1950s and 60s when Tamil Nadu witnessed anti-Hindi agitations. The film is directed by Sudha Kongara and also features Sreeleela, Atharvaa and Ravi Mohan. Parasakthi is based on real incidents with fictional elements. The film has music scored by GV Prakash in his 100th musical, while it is Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film.

Reportedly, ZEE5 has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film. However, it has not been officially announced. It is expected to come out on OTT sometime in February. Parasakthi released to mixed responses, praised for its ambition and performances but critiqued for uneven execution and screenplay.
