Parasakthi , the 2026 Tamil period political drama, will be streaming on ZEE5 from February 7 onwards. Subscribers of OTTplay Premium can also watch the film, starring actor Sivakarthikeyan and directed by Sudha Kongara, in multiple languages. If you haven’t already watched Parasakthi and planning to stream it this weekend, here are four reasons why you should do it:

While Tamil Nadu and anti-Hindi oppositions have always been an issue that is significant in the political climate of the state, Parasakthi leans on the same sentiment to tell the story. The period drama talks about the start of ideology, that has been closely entwined to real-life characters who were leaders of Tamil Nadu once. In this way, Parasakthi, though set decades back, forms a relevant story even today.
There is often a misconception that those who oppose Hindi are against the language. But it is through the protagonist Chezhiyan (played by Sivakarthikeyan) that clears the air. As someone who is willing to learn Hindi when situations demand and that he must relocate where Hindi is predominant, Chezhiyan becomes the voice of straightforwardness. At many times, Parasakthi reiterates that it is not against the language, the riots began but against the imposition of it which can lead to potential erasure of regional languages for all.

Sivakarthikeyan is one of the major plus points of film, who upholds the angry young man archetype to the advantage of story. Parasakthi boils down to the story of two brothers, Chezhiyan (Sivakarthikeyan), and Chinnadurai (Atharvaa), who fought against the imposition of Hindi at different times and reasons. Even as both the brothers tend to get hot-blooded, Parasakthi makes a clear difference the duo, and how to win over with ideology need clarity in mind and thinking, and not impulsiveness. Parasakthi talks about strength lies in unity and diversity, as Chezhiyan gathers folks from across states to make his point loud and clear to the Union government.
Parasakthi is set in the 1950s-60s era of Tamil Nadu, and makes you time travel to that period to traverse through the story. Sudha Kongara, who has written and helmed the film, through her direction makes sure that audience understand the sentiments of the film’s core. She is also abled by technical crew, including cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, art director S Annadurai, editor Sathish Suriya, and production designer MR Karthik Rajkumar. The resemblance to yesteryear Indian leaders like Indira Gandhi (Sandhya Mridul), M Karunanidhi (Guru Somasundaram), and CN Annadurai (Chetan), also deserve a praise.
