The trailer of Parasakthi, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, was released by the makers on social media on Sunday. The period drama is set to release in theatres on January 10, just ahead of Pongal festivities.
Parasakthi trailer: What is Sivakarthikeyan film about?
Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film is Parasakthi, and is a period drama which is soon to hit theatres. Ahead of its release, the trailer is now out for fans to catch a glimpse of it. While the film was expected to deal with anti-Hindi agitations, the trailer gives us a fair picture on what to expect.
The three-minute trailer begins with the film being set in 1964 and Sivakarthikeyan playing a train engineer for the Centre's railways. Set in Madurai, Atharvaa and Sivakarthikeyan play brothers, while Sreeleela plays a non-Tamilian. The trailer soon shifts to its central conflict; Hindi imposition and how Tamilians are against it. Sivakarthikeyan tries to learn Hindi from Sreeleela, while Atharvaa is an angry young man protesting against the Hindi imposition. Ravi Mohan plays a man who is against these forces, who wants to create conflict. The trailer shows riots of common people against the language imposition. Parasakthi trailer shows how a protest is staged, as Tamilians are shown not against the language but the imposition of it.
What do we know about Parasakthi?
Written and directed by Sudha Kongara in her first collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan, the film will mark the Tamil debut of Sreeleela. The cast also includes Atharvaa and Ravi Mohan as the antagonist. Initially, Parasakthi was launched with Suriya as Purananooru along with Nazriya, Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Verma. However, after Suriya quit, the project was recast with the new actors. GV Prakash is scoring music and it is his 100th film and second with Sivakarthikeyan after Amaran. Parasakthi is slated for a theatrical release on January 10, Saturday, just a day after Vijay’s Jana Nayagan release. The OTT rights are reportedly bagged by ZEE5.
