Pariah plot
Pariah is a 2024 Bengali action thriller about a reclusive man who becomes a watchdog after a stray puppy he raised goes missing. He discovers and fights against a powerful illegal dog trafficking ring that supplies stray dogs from Kolkata to northeast India. For the unversed, the title Pariah refers to stray dogs, who are considered outcasts, and to the solitary, unnamed hero who becomes their saviour.
The central theme of Pariah is a protest against the injustice and cruelty inflicted on stray animals. It is a harsh, dark and violent exploration of animal rights, which demands compassion for the voiceless and questions human morality and the ethics of eating meat. The movie is presented as Pariah Volume 1: Every Street Dog Has a Name, with a sequel already announced.
