Parth Samthaan confirms his role in CID: 'ACP Pradyuman gets killed... perhaps it's a murder'

Parth Samthaan is taking on a new and demanding job as he joins the cast of the legendary TV series CID as Ayushmann, the prime investigator. The actor is replacing Shivaji Satam, who played the iconic role of ACP Pradyuman for twenty years. After a six-year absence, the show has lately returned, and with Parth's arrival, there will be a new twist in the plot involving the killing of ACP Pradyuman.

Parth Samthaan on bagging the role

While speaking with Saas Bahu Aur Betiyaan, Parth revealed that he had conflicting feelings upon receiving the offer. The legendary series has been airing on Sony Entertainment Television for quite some time. His loved ones assumed he was kidding when he mentioned it in their conversations. However, they were quite proud when he informed them he was taking it seriously.

Parth went on to say that it's actually a massive responsibility to fill in such shoes, such humongous shoes of ACP Pradyuman, since he's replacing him as ACP Ayushmann, in reference to the enormous responsibility that comes with taking on such a massive role. They will continue the story with a new protagonist, bringing fresh tension and excitement. He never imagined himself to be a part of such a team. The actor is involved in a cross-collaboration; he's honoured to be a part of this legendary series.

The new season's high-stakes plot revolves around ACP Pradyuman's tragic death. Parth’s character, ACP Ayushmann, will spearhead the investigation, revealing hidden truths and taking on suspects, some of whom are recognised from the original squad.

Parth Samthaan calls it a career-defining choice

He debated doing it and finally decided against it when he got the call. The show's enduring popularity clarifies it that being a part of it was a privilege. The show depicts the murder of ACP Pradyuman, which may or may not be a homicide. This agency has appointed a new ACP, Ayushmann, to help solve the case. It's him in the lead part and this is a massive undertaking.

The actor went on to say that his performance will be very different from that of Satam. His character is not similar to the character of the former ACP, he remarked, offering a new angle for dedicated viewers.

Legacy of CID

Starring Aditya Srivastava as Inspector Abhijeet, Dayanand Shetty as Inspector Daya, and Narendra Gupta as Dr Salunkhe, the outstanding ensemble cast of CID first broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television on January 21, 1998. A successful 20-year run came to an end in October 2018 as the show's initial run concluded.

While the original CID airs on Sony Entertainment Television, the revived version is available to stream on Sony LIV (OTTplay Premium). Both long-time watchers and newcomers can enjoy watching previous episodes on Netflix.
