Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's latest blockbuster is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video . Pathaan is written and directed by Siddharth Anand and it's part of the spy cinematic universe that Yash Raj Films is creating. Shah Rukh Khan is the new superstar entrant in the universe, which already has Salman Khan (Tiger series) and Hrithik Roshan (War).

Pathaan tells the tale of a soldier who returns from exile to protect the country from the deadliest terror attack. Shah Rukh Khan plays the nameless spy and he is known as Pathaan among the spies and his rivals. He has to wade through a cloud of lies, deceit, manipulation and sheer forces of vengeance to protect his motherland. In the process, he makes some unlikely allies, learns to love and forgive and grows as a character all the while flaunting his chiselled physique. The movie also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead roles.

Pathaan is a Shah Rukh Khan movie that alone is a good enough reason for you to stream it from the comforts of your home. But, if you're looking for more 'whys', we have got you covered.

The biggest blockbuster of the year:

Pathaah gave a much-needed boost to the waning morale of the Hindi film industry. A series of big flops and many controversies had sent Bollywood into a tailspin. Many were writing obituaries about the film industry, which enjoyed a superior status among its peers since the inception of cinema in India. Many predicted it was the end of Bollywood's magic and it was concluded the industry has lost the touch to make movies that work across the length and breadth of the country. And this film disproved all the naysayers with "Mere Dost Picture Abhi Baki Hai (My friend, the film isn't over yet)."

Shah Rukh Khan's comeback:

There was an eerie resemblance between Pathaan and everything that was going on in Shah Rukh Khan's personal life at the time. It won't be wrong to say many read this movie in autobiographical terms—the lines between fiction and real blurred on multiple levels. The fans who had missed the superstar in action on the big screen for four years gave the movie a fitting welcome at the box office. And like his character in Pathaan, SRK arrived just in time to save Bollywood from sinking into the pool of negativity.

John Abraham:

A big blockbuster is only as good as its villain. And John Abraham makes for an extremely good villain. He looks menacing without any effort. He channels a good and grounded performance as the main antagonist by the standards of popcorn blockbusters. And he convinces us that his character Jim is stronger than Pathaan and Pathaan nearly has to kill himself before he can outsmart and outpunch Jim.

Non-stop action:

There's something about Shah Rukh Khan in a blood-stained white shirt with a bruised face and burst lips. He looks tough and cool at the same time. The movie has a lot of over-the-top action set pieces. Some are beyond the realms of believability, but the conviction and the performances of the stars, make us enjoy them. SRK has done a solid job in scenes where he's required to fight his rivals in close combat. Watch out for Deepika Padukone's performance in fight sequences, especially when her character saves Pathaan.

The best cameo:

Salman Khan's cameo will go down as one of the best onscreen cameos of 2023. SRK and Salman complement each other so well. SRK's charms and Salman's deadpan humour are on full display in a key action sequence that happens on a moving train. And don't turn off your television soon after the credits start rolling. There is a fun banter between SRK and Salman, as the duo discuss the potential candidates to take their spots in Bollywood.
