Director Obeli N Krishna, who made an impressive debut with Sillunu Oru Kadhal in 2006, made a comeback to Kollywood after a short hiatus with Silambarasan-starrer Pathu Thala which hit screens on March 30. The movie, which was the remake of Sandalwood flick Mufti, opened to mixed reviews.

However, makers say the film is one of the biggest grossers in the career of the actor, who is now gearing up for STR 48 with Desingh Periyasamy. For those who wondered whether the project's director would take another break, here's the update.

A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that the director is joining hands with Ramesh Krishnamoorthy of Global One Studios, the production house which made movies like Hey Sinamika and Raman Thediya Seethai. AR Rahman, who collaborated with him in two films, wished success for his next, too.

It is now heard that Vijay Deverakonda will star in the lead role in the untitled project, the details of which will be made official soon. In a recent press meet, he expressed happiness at Pathu Thala's reception among the audience and OTT. The gangster drama is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Obeli said that he is keen on making films that leave an impact and that he has international plans as well. He has no qualms in openly admitting that bringing Oscar to the country is one of his ambitions. The filmmaker heaped praise on the crew of Rajamouli's RRR and went on to say that the film has inspired many people like him to dream big.

Fans of Vijay Deverakonda are now eagerly waiting for an update on the movie. They are curious to know about the scale with which the project will be made.
