Actor Silambarasan was all emotional during the much-awaited audio launch of his upcoming film Pathu Thala. The actor, who plays a dreaded gangster AGR in the film, says he was reluctant at first to take up the project. Speaking on the occasion, the Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu star said, "I was going through a rough phase in my life and things weren't really working in my favour. It was like a major downfall. It was so bad that I didn't understand the point of being in the film industry and working on cinema. I was even contemplating quitting films at that time and had taken the spiritual path."

"He was complaining that I was just staying at home and that I was not stepping out at all. I was wondering, " I am already battling so many issues? Was staying at home now a problem?' A few days later, he called up and said that there was a Kannada film called Mufti that he was planning to make. I was apprehensive at first because that character that he had approached me for was performed by the Kannada Superstar Shiva Rajkumar. How could I match up to a legend like him?"

"I usually have this habit of calling up people and appreciating their hard work in a film. Many people have asked me why I do it. The reason is that no one has encouraged me at any point. There are many people to put you down, but not one to lift you up. In my case, I have had only fans. Gautham is someone who has battled many struggles to be where he is today. He is a good person and I decided to take up the project for him. I don't know if the film would work for me, but I am hundred percent sure that Pathu Thala will work for Gautham." He said that he finished the project amid all struggles for Gautham.

Pathu Thala is directed by Obeli Krishna, and has Gautham Karthik, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Gautham Menon as part of the star cast. The film is all set to hit screens on March 30.
