Pattampoochi release: Here's when the crime drama starring Sundar C and Jai will hit the screens

We had reported earlier that director Badri Narayanan has been making a movie with Sundar C and Jai, titled Pattampoochi. The investigative thriller is now ready for a theatrical release. The release date has been announced along with its teaser which has been unveiled by Arya, Vishal and Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film will hit the screens on May 13. 

The 1.40-minute teaser has Sundar C, a cop, going after Jai, who plays a psychopath in the movie. This is the first time the latter has essayed the role of an antagonist. Honey Rose Varghese and Imman Annachi play key characters in the project which has been bankrolled by Kushboo Sundar.

The film's story revolves around the challenges an upright cop faces to nab a killer who is on the run. The shooting of the movie which is set in the 1980s happened in Pondicherry and Karaikkal. Navneeth Sundar and Fenny Oliver S have composed music and handled editing respectively for the movie.

Esakki Krishnasamy has cranked the camera while Prem Kumar is in charge of art direction. Honey Rose is making her comeback to Kollywood after a decade's hiatus with Pattampoochi. He was last seen in Jiiva-starrer Singam Puli.

Interestingly, Jai was one of the leads in Sundar C's Kalakalappu 2 and they are now sharing screen space for the first time. The former is now playing one of the leads in another multi-starrer untitled movie which has Sundar at the helm. Sundar was last seen in a cop's role in Iruttu, while Jai's previous outing was Veerapandiyapuram.

The director of the film, Badri, had earlier said that the biggest challenge for the crew was to recreate the 80s period for the movie. He had also added that Jai's character with ample negative shades will be one of the highlights of the project.
