Percy Jackson and the Olympians marks the late Lance Reddick's final acting role and the makers of the television series have revealed his dynamic look in the film. The upcoming fantasy series will have the much-loved actor in the role of Zeus, the ferocious 'god of sky' who must deal with the conundrum of having his thunderbolt stolen. 

Lance Reddick, aged 60, passed away from heart disease on March 17, 2023, having left behind a legacy brimming with memorable roles in both film and television. Reddick received several tributes from both fans and his colleagues over his nearly three-decade-long career, including The Wire creator David Simon and co-stars Wendell Pierce and Isiah Whitlock Jr. In the same spirit, his John Wick cast members Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane, too, along with the video game industry, paid heartfelt tributes to him. Some of Lance Reddick's best credits also include work on video games like the Destiny series, Horizon Zero Dawn and the yet-to-release Hellboy: Web of Wyrd.

Coming to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the Disney Plus creation is based on the series of fantasy novels of the same name authored by Rick Riordan, who also serves as the co-creator (along with Jonathan E. Steinberg) of the show. The story follows Percy Jackson who must counter the threat of the Greek god Zeus, who accuses the the 12-year-old demigod of stealing his thunderbolt. Walker Scobell stars as Perseus "Percy" Jackson with the main cast also including Leah Sava Jeffries and Indian-origin American actor Aryan Simhadri. Megan Mullally, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman and others as part of the recurring cast.

Along with Lance Reddick, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jay Duplass and others are credited with guest roles on the show, which is set to premiere on Disney Plus on December 20, 2023. The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will consist of eight episodes.
