Today was an incredible day for the fans of the fantasy series Percy Jackson and the Olympians as Disney+ unveiled the official trailer, giving major insights about the demigod quest. The series is slated for a December release. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming series and its newly released trailer.
When and where to watch
The Disney+ series, based on the epic best-selling fantasy novel by Rick Riordan, is set to premiere on December 20. Walker Scobell will be playing the titular character of a 12-year-old half-human, half-greek god in the upcoming 8-episodic series, directed by James Bobin.

Trailer teases the adventurous quest by Percy and his friends
In the 2:20 minutes new trailer, we witness a young boy named Percy with his mother, who narrates the story of a brave Greek god, whom Percy is named after, and his heroic conquests. The trailer hints at the strange events that lead to Percy’s moral dilemma and realization of the deep secret lurking in his blood genes.
“Percy the stories, I’ve told you about Greek gods and monsters, they are real,” his mother reveals the dark truth that Percy is a demigod, a son of Greek god Poseidon. Other characters like his friends Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) team up with the central character to embark on the adventurous quest to find the missing mythological object. The key to finding the balance in Sky-god Zeus’ world is the lost lighting bolt and Percy finds a thrilling world as he is admitted to the special training facility called Camp Half-blood.

The significant characters also include Megan Mullally, Glynn Turman, Virginia Kull, Toby Stephens, and Lin-Manuel Miranda among others. The race against time will also involve the life-threatening battles between the half-blood prince and the dangerous creatures.
The series unfolds the events of the first novel, The Lightning Thief. Riordan serves as executive producer and co-writes parts of the series with Jon Steinberg. Other EPs include Steinberg, Bobin, Dan Shotz, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldbeg, and Rebecca Riordan.
