Perilloor Premier League – New poster of Nikhila Vimal, Sunny Wayne’s Hotstar series out, hints at release date

If the latest poster of Nikhila Vimal’s Perilloor Premier League is anything to go by, Disney+ Hotstar could begin streaming its third Malayalam web series by the end of this year. The platform dropped the second motion poster of the upcoming OTT series on its social media on Monday.

Perilloor Premier League, which is directed by debutant Praveen Chandran and scripted by Deepu Pradeep, has Nikhila Vimal, Sunny Wayne, Vijayaraghavan, Ashokan and Aju Varghese in pivotal roles.

Disney+ Hotstar’s Perilloor Premier League to be a political satire

As the posters suggested, the upcoming web series will focus on an election in a village and the events that happen around the polls. The latest poster has Nikhila Vimal and Vijayaraghavan’s characters in their political avatars on a jeep, who go about canvassing for votes. Another poster, which was released in November, also hinted that Ashokan would be playing a politician in the film, which revolves around the Perilloor gram panchayat elections.

The series marks the debut directorial of Praveen, who had previously worked as an associate director in Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup. Deepu had previously scripted Godha and Padmini.

Apart from Nikhila and Sunny, the series also has Adhri Joe of Thallumaala fame, Abin Bino of Romancham and Sarath Saba in pivotal roles. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Aju, who had made his OTT debut earlier this year with Disney+ Hotstar’s Kerala Crime Files, said that Perilloor Premier League is a comedy entertainer.

While the number of episodes and runtime are yet to be revealed, the teaser hints that the series could drop on Disney+ Hotstar in December 2023 or early January. The post shared by the OTT platform had the caption, mentioning that it’s “coming soon”.

Upcoming Malayalam web series on Disney+ Hotstar

Soon after Perilloor Premier League, the platform is also set to release three other web series in Malayalam. These include 1000+ Babies, which is helmed by Nishad Koya and has Rahman and Neena Gupta in the lead, as well as Madhuvidhu, Nithin Renji Panicker’s dark-comedy that has Suraj Venjaramoodu and Kalabhavan Shajohn in the lead.

However, the most-anticipated among these is the Nivin Pauly-starrer Pharma , which is directed by PR Arun of Finals fame. The project, which will mark the Premam star’s web series debut, also has Rajat Kapur in a pivotal role.
