Pettaikaali: When and where to watch this web series on Jallikattu which has Vetri Maaran as its showrunner

Acclaimed filmmaker Vetri Maaran, who is currently helming Soori-starrer Viduthalai which is being made in two parts, had wrapped up Pettaikaali a while ago. The web series has been produced by him, and is officially the showrunner of the project which is touted as the first series to be made around the traditional sport of Jallikattu.  

The makers of the series have been promoting it by creating curiousity among movie lovers with the hashtag 'Who’s that Pettaikaali’ on Twitter. Raj Kumar, an erstwhile assistant to Vetri Maaran, has directed the project. Santhosh Narayanan has composed music while Velraj has cranked the camera.

R Sudharsan and Ramu Thangaraj have edited and helmed art direction respectively for the project. GV Prakash has unveiled a one-minute motion poster of the web series along with the announcement of its OTT premiere. Pettaikaali will drop on aha Tamil on October 21 to mark the Deepavali festival.

Vetri had earlier spoken about the excitement of having been associated with the series, and heaped praise on director Raj Kumar. The latter had made a notable documentary on Jallikattu a while ago, and he decided to make a web series after researching extensively about the sport which is an integral part of Tamil culture.  

Interestingly, Vetri Maaran will also be directing a movie about Jallikattu, which is based on the novel Vaadi Vaasal penned by Chellappa. The movie, which is made under the same title, has Suriya playing the lead. 

A test shoot for the ambitious project was done earlier this year in the outskirts of Chennai. The filmmaker is likely to begin the full-fledged shooting for the movie after he wraps up works pertaining to Viduthalai.
