Ponniyin Selvan 2: Kamal Haasan to launch the trailer of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus

Madras Talkies announced the same on its social media handle, "A momentous occasion calls for a momentous guest! Join us in welcoming the one and only #UlagaNayagan @ikamalhaasan sir to unveil the music and trailer of #PS2 on March 29th at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai! #CholasAreBack #PonniyinSelvan2 #ManiRatnam @arrahman @madrastalkies_ (sic)."

The audio launch is supposed to be a grand affair with the entire cast and crew of the film present on the occasion. The film's music composer Isai Puyal AR Rahman had recently shared a BTS video of the making of the album. The video also featured the singers of the album, Shakthishree Gopalan, Chinmayi Sripaada and Shwetha Mohan. There are seven songs in the album, and the first single, Aga Naga sung by Shakthishree Gopalan (lyrics by Ilango Krishnan) is already out. The song is a romantic number featuring Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai (Trisha) and Vanthiyathevan (Karthi). The actors have requested fans to come up with their own covers of the melodious number with surprise awaiting for winners.

Ponniyin Selvan is an adaptation of Kalki's eponymous novel of the same name, which is gearing up to hit screens on April 28. Vikram will reprise his character  Aditha Karikalan, Trisha will play Kundavai, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman, Karthi as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini Devi, to name a few. The plot revolves around the battle for the Chola crown.

Cinematography for Ponniyin Selvan 2 is by Ravi Varman, editing by Sreekar Prasad and art direction by Thota Tharani. Eka Lakhani has handled the costumes. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is jointly bankrolled by Madras Talkies and Lyca productions.

Kamal Haasan will be teaming up for his next with director Mani Ratnam after a span of three decades. The film, which is tentatively being referred to as KH234, will have music by AR Rahman.-
