With less than two days left for the release of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2, makers have now come up with a sneak peek video. This is the first major promo material from the team after its trailer was unveiled a few weeks ago.
The two-minute video features an exhausted Vanthiyadevan (played by Karthi) being tied up by Pandyas after facing an attack from them. He is seen clueless about the place where he has been kept. When he plans to escape from the place, an old man approaches him.
Quite panicked by his appearance and moves, Vanthiyadevan enquires about him and pleads not to harm him. Suddenly, he recognizes that it is Azhwarkadiyan Nambi (played by Jayaram) who has dressed up in the guise of an old man. A surprised Nambi expresses curiousity on how Vanthiyadevan identified him easily.
To this, he says that his belly was more than enough to find his identity. Nambi tells Vanthiyadevan that he visited the place to save him from the clutches of Pandyas. The latter asks the former to inform the matter to Aditha Karikalan (played by Vikram). Vanthiyathevan then plans to intimate Kundavai (played by Trisha) about the unexpected incident that happened.
The promo is sure to generate more hype to the magnum opus which is expected to rake in good numbers in Tamil Nadu. The trade is looking forward to the numbers the film will collect from across the world on day one. Ponniyin Selvan 1 grossed 80 crores on day one.
Can PS 2 surpass it? A positive word of mouth is likely to make that possible. Since there aren't any special morning shows happening in Tamil Nadu, many feel that the day one number would be slightly less than what PS 1 earned.
