Ponniyin Selvan day 2 box office: The Mani Ratnam movie grosses THIS coveted mark from across the world

Team Ponniyin Selvan had announced yesterday that the Mani Ratnam directorial grossed ₹80 crores from across the globe. Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions which have jointly produced the magnum opus announced the same from their social media handles. 

According to sources, the film has collected ₹70 crores on its day two, taking the total collection to ₹150 crores. Interestingly, almost ₹75 crores from the total gross comes from overseas markets including US, Australia, UK, Malaysia, GCC and Singapore. This is the first film of the director which has entered the ₹100 crore club.

The movie is already the highest grossing film of Karthi, Jayam Ravi and Trisha. Going by the current trend, it is highly likely to surpass Vikram's biggest grosser I and Aishwarya Rai's highest grossing movie Endhiran in the next two days. The lead actors of the project have been thanking the audience from their respective social media pages.

Film lovers, who have been waiting for the big budget entertainer, believe that every actor put their best foot forward. Some of them felt that it was Karthi's Vanthiyathevan who stole the show, while there are a few who opine that Vikram's Aditha Karikalan and Ravi's Arunmozhi Varman were apt in their roles.

Aishwarya Rai's Nandini and Trisha's Kundavai, too, have many fans, and the scene in which the two characters meet for the first time is the favourite sequence in the entire film for several cinephiles. They are curious to know how the character traits for these two actress have been developed in the second part. 

Jayaram, Sarath Kumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Parthiban and Rahman are a few others who portrayed notable characters in the film which is dream come true for Mani Ratnam and fans of the epic novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
