Ponniyin Selvan: Makers unveil an intriguing promo featuring Pandyas infiltrating Chola kingdom to take revenge

After unveiling a BTS video in which veteran art director Thota Tharrani opened up on the various ways with which the team designed weapons, buildings and costumes for a few sequences in Ponniyin Selvan, makers have now come up with a short, but engaging promo.

The one-minute video showcases how Pandyas slowly infiltrate Chola kingdom to avenge the death of their king. Chola prince, the brave warrior Aditha Karikalan, defeated Pandya kingdom at Sevur and beheaded their king Veera Pandiyan, after which a few Pandyas decided to take revenge on Cholas.

Vikram plays Aditha Karikalan in the film while Kishore and Riyaz Khan among others will be seen essaying those from the Pandya kingdom. The promo videos and BTS videos the team are coming up with have been elevating the hype for the movie.

Though Dhanush's Naane Varuvean will hit the screens on September 29, Ponniyin Selvan is expected to open big on September 30, and set cash registers ringing during the weekend irrespective of the response it garners, thanks to the popularity of the epic novel based on which the film has been made and the multi-starrer cast in it.

Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Trisha and Jayam Ravi are others who play pivotal roles in the project which has Sarath Kumar, Parthiban, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Vikram Prabhu among others essaying important characters. The songs composed by AR Rahman have already been lapped up by music lovers and cinephiles who are waiting for the movie.

Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions have jointly bankrolled the project which has cinematography and editing handled by Ravi Varman and Sreekar Prasad respectively. The team has kicked off promotional tours in other states from Tuesday.
