Ponniyin Selvan teaser Twitter reactions: Movie lovers divided over film's VFX sequences; hail Mani Ratnam's vision

The one-minute teaser of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan has been released in five languages, and Twitterati can't stop discussing about the much-awaited Tamil film of this year. It is a Herculean task for the director to include most of the actors in the promo video, but he has managed to pull it off.

One aspect of the movie which most of the film lovers have unanimously agreed to is its casting. They are all praise for the team for choosing the right actors, especially for the lead roles, played by Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai and Karthi.

While a few say that they are waiting to watch Vikram portray Aditya Karikalan, some others are rooting for Karthi's Vanthiyathevan. Many have pinned high hopes on Jayam Ravi, too, who is playing the most important character, Arul Mozhi Varman. 

Fans of Trisha go gaga over her screen presence as the courageous Kundavai. Many opine that the actress might come up with a surprising performance, surpassing a few other co-actors. Similarly, Aishwarya Rai, too, has earned many admirers with her gracious screen presence.

Though there are film buffs who are satisfied with the teaser output, there are those who feel that the promo video is below par, thanks to poor CG scenes and lack of adrenaline-pumping moments. Many are eager to know if Ponniyin Selvan would outsmart Baahubali in terms of grandeur and box office.

Most of those who read the novel are eager to know how Mani Ratnam and team have conceived crucial sequences of the story penned by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Kollywood fans express hopes on the maverick filmmaker for doing justice to the epic novel and bringing recognition to the film industry.

Fans are now looking forward to an announcement from the team on the film's trailer release which is expected to provide more clarity on the output of the magnum opus.
