Malayalam film, Poovu, has made its direct OTT release on Manorama Max. The movie, which starred KPAC Leela and K V Manjulan in lead roles, is available to watch on the platform with English subtitles.

Despite not being released in theatres, the movie received positive reviews and attention from audiences during festival runs. Other than Appuram and Poovu, no other Malayalam movie has made its OTT release in the first week of January 2026. Other recent films on Manorama Max include Sarkeet, Karam, and Athibheekara Kaamukan.
Eko, a slow-burn thriller starring Sandeep Pradeep, is also currently available on Netflix in multiple languages. Mammootty's Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, Nivin Pauly's web series Pharma, and Pranav Mohanlal's horror film Dies Irae are some of the more recent Malayalam OTT releases. All of these are also available to OTTplay subscribers.
Poovu plot, cast and other details
The protagonist of the film, Jeevan, is a middle-aged guy who travels with four women who have had the biggest influence on the course of his life: his mother, wife, daughter, and first lover. How the protagonist's life completes a circle on this symbolic journey forms the crux of the movie. Anish Babu Abbas is the director of Poovu, which takes viewers on an emotional road trip alongside the main cast members with this flick.
Meenakshi Anoop, Shanti Rao, and Sruthi Vipin all have important parts in Poovu. KPAC Leela is well-known for her role in the Vijayaraghavan-starrer Pookkaalam, which is available to stream on JioHotstar and OTTplay Premium. She recently lent her voice for Mlaathi Chedathi, a character in Eko.
Poovu was screened at the Titan International Film Festival in Sydney in 2025 and the Hurghada Youth Film Festival in Egypt in 2024. It also won the best travel and exploration feature award at the Mannheim Arts & Film Festival in Germany in 2023. Johnson V Devassy wrote the screenplay for the film. Ninoy Varghese composed the background score for the movie.
