Por Thozhil: Here's how much Sarath Kumar, Ashok Selvan's hit crime drama has earned at the box office

Por Thozhil has joined the list of surprise hits this year in Kollywood. Dada, Ayothi and Good Night were other Tamil movies which impressed the audience in 2023 despite not evoking huge expectations before their releases. Starring Sarath Kumar and Ashok Selvan in lead roles, Vignesh Raja has helmed the crime drama.

The movie opened to a unanimous positive response among critics and film buffs. The project which earned close to one crore on day one went on to collect around two crores on the second day and almost three crores on the third day.

Love Today was the last non-starry movie in Kollywood which attained a similar feat with regard to box office performance. Nikhila Vimal, Sarath Babu, Sunil Sukhada, Harish Kumar and PL Thenappan among others played important characters in the project, the digital rights of which were purchased by SonyLIV a while ago.

After four days of its theatrical run, the film has earned more than six crores. It is expected to be Ashok Selvan's highest grosser after its full run. The movie will be released in Singapore, Australia and Gulf countries on June 15 and many theatres in Tamil Nadu have added extra shows after day one.

Sarath and Ashok have taken to their social media pages to thank the audience for their support and expressed excitement on the movie's successful theatrical run. Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal, Mukesh R Mehta, CV Sarathi, Poonam Mehra and Sandeep Mehra have bankrolled Por Thozhil which has music composed by Jakes Bejoy.

Alfred Prakash has co-written the movie along with director while Kalaiselvan Sivaji and Sreejith Sarang have handled cinematography and editing respectively. Taut screenplay and a few intriguing scenes coupled with convincing performances are major highlights of the movie.
