Director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram, which went on to become a huge blockbuster, dropped on Disney+ Hotstar after a month of its theatrical release. The action thriller, starring Kamal Haasan in the titular role, had a sensational viewership on the OTT platform, too, thanks to its engaging content and gripping performances from actors.
The film, which was released three months ago in theatres, is still running in a couple of theatres in Chennai with decent occupancy. As if this isn't enough, the movie is now set to drop on Zee5 as well. Vikram will be released on Zee5 on September 7.
A few days ago, aha Tamil had announced that the movie is available on their platform in 4K quality with Dolby Audio. However, the movie isn't accessible for audiences in India, China and South Korea. With Vikram set to drop on Zee5, fans are now curious to know if the movie would repeat the success Hotstar managed to reap.
Kamal Haasan fans are also looking forward to the 100th day of the movie. It's been a while since a Tamil film has had continuous screening till its 100th day of release.
Kamal's home banner Raaj Kamal Films International has bankrolled the project which has Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie and Kalidas Jayaram among others essaying key roles, apart from an effective cameo by Suriya. Anirudh's background score, Anbarivu's action choreography and Girish Gangadharan's cinematography, too, garnered appreciation from film buffs.
Tamil film lovers are now eagerly waiting for the sequel to Vikram, which is expected to go on floors in 2023, if everything goes well. But Lokesh has Kaithi 2 and Thalapathy 67 to complete before he joins hands with Kamal again.
