Post Valimai, Don and Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, makers of Maanaadu reveal BO collection

It's quite rare to see Kollywood producers revealing the official box office collection of their films. It looks like the trend is slowly fading away. The team of Sivakarthikeyan's recently released movie Don had announced that the campus drama has grossed 100 crores at the box office.

A few days ago, when Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal (KRK), starring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha, released on Disney+ Hotstar, its makers took to social media to announce that the rom-com grossed 66 crores worldwide. The film is Sethupathi's highest grosser. A while ago, when Ajith-starrer Valimai released on Zee5, producer Boney Kapoor made it official that the action flick earned more than 200 crores.

Now, Suresh Kamatchi has surprised everyone by releasing the box office collection of Silambarasan-starrer Maanaadu which hit the screens six months ago. The time-loop thriller, which is now streaming on SonyLIV, went on to become the highest-grossing film in the career of Silambarasan.

The Venkat Prabhu directorial was a much-needed comeback to himself and Silambarasan. Thanking the film's cast and crew, Suresh took to Twitter to post, "Glad to announce that our #Maanaadu has collected 117Cr at Worldwide Box Office. It becomes this year's Mega Blockbuster (sic)."

Maanaadu, which received unanimous response from critics and movie buffs for its screenplay and performances of actors, was one of the biggest hits of 2021. The film, along with Sivakarthikeyan's Doctor (streaming on Netflix), was instrumental in bringing the audience to theatres in Tamil Nadu after the second wave of the pandemic.

Silambarasan has Pathu Thala, Maha, Vendhu Thaninthathu Kaadu and Corona Kumar in his kitty while Venkat Prabhu is busy with his untitled Tollywood debut featuring Naga Chaitanya in the lead. Suresh Kamatchi's next outing is Nivin Pauly-starrer untitled project which has Ram at its helm.
