Kannada filmmaker Yogaraj Bhat is counting down to the release of his next, Karataka Damanaka, in which he has two big heroes – Shivarajkumar and Prabhudeva – who are paired with Priya Anand and Nishvika Naidu, respectively. The film is about two conmen and the ruckus they create in a village, while also falling in love with two girls there.

The team had earlier released a romantic number called Meetadena Veene featuring Shivarajkumar and Priya that Prabhudeva had choreographed and now it is his turn to get a love track with Nishvika. Called Hithalaka Karibyada Maava, the song is being released on March 1 at 6.03 pm. This is a peppy dance number choreographed by Bhushan master, which, the actress said had her stomach in knots out of excitement and nervousness.

While Nishvika is quite the accomplished dancer, performing in front of Prabhudeva was nerve-wracking for her initially, but then he went out of his way to make the experience comfortable for her. Karataka Damanaka, which has been produced by Rockline Venkatesh, who also plays a pivotal role in the film, will be in theatres on March 8.

The film is Yogaraj’s first with Shivarajkumar and brings Prabhudeva back to Kannada cinema. He was last seen in a special number in Lucky Man that was directed by his brother Nagendra Prasad, dancing along the late Puneeth Rajkumar. In promotional interviews for the film, Shivarajkumar has been vocal about how Karataka Damanaka provides a welcome relief from the string of supremely serious films that he’s been doing since the last 8-9 years.

Karataka Damanaka is a comedy drama, which Shivarajkumar says he thoroughly enjoyed being a part of. The film was initially called Kuladali Keelyavudu, but then Yogaraj found this title, which is derived from a folk tale, more apt for the story that he was presenting.
