Filmmaker-turned-actor Pradeep Ranganathan's Love Today, which hit the screens last Friday, has surprised the trade with its collections. The movie, which has been made on a shoestring budget, has grossed over 25 crores from across Tamil Nadu. It is a record for a debut hero, and the collection shows no sign of slowing down.

The postponement of Aishwarya Rajesh's Driver Jamuna is likely to help the rom-com in the coming week as well. The performances of Pradeep and Ivana, who play lead roles in the film, are drawing young audiences to theatres. It is after a long time that a Kollywood film, which was targeted at a young crowd, is setting the box office on fire.

In one of the promotional videos of the movie that are doing the rounds, Pradeep is seen expressing happiness on its success and says that Love Today is a film which should be watched only in movie halls. According to him, it is the constant whistles and giggles in theatres which are making the audience happy.

He says, "If you go to theatres, you can see people in hundreds enjoying the film like crazy. This excitement is special; you can't experience it if you watch the film after downloading pirated copies from Telegram."

AGS Entertainment has bankrolled the film which has Sathyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu and Raveena Ravi essaying pivotal roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja's background score is one of the major highlights of the project which has been garnering appreciation for its entertaining screenplay as well.

Love Today was released along with Ashok Selvan's feel-good drama Nitham Oru Vaanam and Sundar C's multi-starrer romantic drama Coffee With Kadhal. The film is set to release in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from November 28.
