Prakambanam release date: Horror comedy to hit theatres along with Jeethu Joseph’s Valathu Vasathe Kallan

The makers of the upcoming Malayalam film, Prakambanam, have announced the release date. Touted to be a horror comedy, Prakambanam will release in theatres on January 30, 2026, along with director Jeethu Joseph’s upcoming thriller film Valathu Vasathe Kallan.

When to watch Prakambanam

Prakambanam, starring young actors Ganapathi and Sagar Surya, will hit theatres next Friday. Actress Bhavana’s film Anomie was earlier slated to releas e on January 30, but has now been postponed by a week to February 6, 2026. The horror comedy will be competing with the Jeethu Joseph thriller Valathu Vasathe Kallan.

What’s Prakambanam about

Prakambanam is a horror comedy entertainer, set in a men’s college hostel in Kochi and the chaotic events that unfold, as per reports. Prakambanam is directed by Vijesh Panathur, who had earlier directed Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Nadikalil Sundari Yamuna along with Unni Vellora. Sheethal Joseph plays the female lead, along with senior actors Azeez Nedumangad, P P Kunjikrishnan, and Mallika Sukumaran. Gayathri Satheesh, Anagha Ajith and late actor Kalabhavan Navaz are also part of the film.

What’s the plot of Valathu Vasathe Kallan

Helmed by director Jeethu Joseph, Valathu Vasathe Kallan revolves around police officer Antony Xavier and Samuel Joseph. The film follows a crime investigation with the circle inspector out to find the truth at the earliest.

Biju Menon appears as CI Antony Xavier, while Joju George is seen as Samuel Joseph who are pitted against each other in the film. Lena, Leona Lishoy, Shaju Sreedhar and Niranjana Anoop are also part of the cast. On the other hand, Jeethu Joseph’s much-awaited film Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal, will release on April 2.

The major Malayalam films releasing this week are Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies on January 22 and Sarvam Maya actor Nivin Pauly’s thriller movie Baby Girl on January 23. Chatha Pacha already made its premiere and received mostly positive reviews.
