It was rumoured earlier this month that the official launch ceremony of Ajith's next with Vinoth, tentatively titled AK 61, will happen on the occasion of Pongal. However, there was no update on the project which will be bankrolled by Boney Kapoor. Later, it was heard that the movie will go on floors in Hyderabad in March.
The latest on the film is that veteran actors Tabu and Prakash Raj will be seen essaying pivotal characters in it. Needless to say, fans are quite excited about hearing the news. Rajiv Menon's iconic film Kandukondain Kandukondain (streaming on YouTube) was the last project which brought Ajith and Tabu together. Their combination scenes were one of the highlights of the movie.
The last time Ajith and Prakash Raj shared the screen space was in P Vasu's underwhelming flick Paramasivan (streaming on YouTube). The names of Anirudh and Ghibran have also been doing the rounds with regard to composing music for the film. The latter is said to have worked for a few portions in Valimai.
It has to be seen if the shooting of AK 61 will commence before Valimai hits the screens. The action thriller was supposed to be the solo Pongal release in Tamil, and was slated to hit the screens in January 13. But the makers decided to postpone the movie owing to the alarming rise in number of Omicron cases across the country.
Valimai, which will release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, is the second collaboration of Ajith, Vinoth and Boney after Nerkonda Paarvai (streaming on Zee5) which released in theatres in 2019.
It will be a double delight for Ajith fans if Valimai's release and AK 61's shooting happen in the next month as per the team's plan.
