Ranveer Singh's upcoming movie, Pralay, is a gritty, post-apocalyptic zombie survival, directed by Jai Mehta. While Ranveer is enjoying the blockbuster success of Dhurandhar, he is set to begin shooting for Pralay soon. Amid this, a report claimed that Alia Bhatt is also likely to join Pralay as the makers approach her.

Alia Bhatt to join Pralay?

Mid-Day reported that the makers of Pralay approached Alia Bhatt for the female lead. For director Jai Mehta, Alia is the first choice. “The female lead is central to the narrative. She isn’t introduced as a love interest. She challenges the hero’s ideas in a collapsing world. She brings credibility. In a film this experimental, you need powerhouses and actors the audience’s trust,” the source added.

If things work out, Pralay will be Bhatt’s third collaboration with Singh after Gully Boy (2019) and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023).

Set in a devastated, near-catastrophic Mumbai after a catastrophic outbreak, Pralay is designed as a survival drama. “The world of Pralay is harsh, resources are scarce, and every character is pushed to moral breaking points. This is not a glossy zombie film,” the source added.

Pralay shooting update

While Ranveer has stepped away from Farhan Akhtar's Don 3, he will soon begin shooting for Pralay. The film is set to go on floors sometime between July and August 2026. Filmmaker Jai Mehta is taking his time to craft a powerful post-apocalyptic zombie thriller. The report also claimed that by following the protagonist's struggle for survival after a disaster, Mehta uses the zombie framework to explore social, psychological, and moral degradation.

The portal earlier added, "Large sections of the city will be digitally aged, to give it an abandoned look. Parts of the film will be shot in Mumbai, before moving to other locations.”

Ranveer Singh walks out of Don 3

Meanwhile, Pinkvilla reported that Ranveer Singh has decided to walk out of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s much-anticipated Don 3. The source claimed that, amidst the blockbuster success of Dhurandhar, Ranveer has a clear vision about what kind of work he wants to do in his next film.

"He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and at the same time, he doesn’t want to be seen in back-to-back gangster films, especially since Dhurandhar is already established in that space. That’s one of the reasons he has asked Jai Mehta to prepone the shoot of Pralay. Ranveer is keen on fast-tracking the project and bringing it on floors sooner than planned," the source shared.
