Pre-production begins for Mohanlal-starrer Empuraan; Prithviraj, Murali Gopy open up about the project

The much-awaited update on Lucifer 2 aka Empuraan is here! Its makers have come up with a 10-minute video in which Mohanlal, director Prithviraj, producer Antony Perumbavoor and script writer Murali Gopy have expressed excitement on the commencement of the movie's pre-production.

Prithviraj recollected how Lucifer was planned a few years ago and thanked the audience for making it a huge hit. He informed that the script works for Empuraan have been completed and that the team is elated to begin its pre-production from today. The actor-filmmaker also added that the movie will be a commercial entertainer which will cater to all sections of audiences. "However, it is too early to comment on the project's release date," he said.

Murali Gopy said that he has been receiving questions from fans on whether Empuraan is a sequel or prequel to Lucifer. "I would say Empuraan is the second installment of a three-film series. We will announce other updates shortly," he said.

Mohanlal said that the team is aware of the responsibilities and expectations, and that he is hopeful of Empuraan impressing film lovers. "We hope that Empuraan is more entertaining than Lucifer. We have explored various possibilities to make the movie gripping," he said.

According to him, the shooting will happen in different locations, including a few countries. He added, "Murali narrated the script of Empuraan in installments. It has a story which can't be told in one go. I'm sure Raju can pull off the movie with the help of Antony's production sensibilities and Murali's script."

Fans of Mohanlal who are awaiting the project with bated breath are hopeful of watching it in 2023. The star's upcoming projects are Vysakh's Monster, Shaji Kailas' Alone and Jeethu Joseph's Ram. Besides, he is also part of Netflix's anthology in which he is playing the lead in a segment directed by Priyadarshan.
