Prema Kavya OTT release date: When and where to stream Raghu and Vikas-led new serial

The Kannada general entertainment channel Colors Kannada is launching a new daily soap shortly. Called Prema Kavya, the show, directed by Raveen Kumar, stars Nammane Yuvarani fame Raghu (Raghavendra) and Vikas (of Kendasampige fame), along with Priya J Achar (of Gattimela and Kaveri Kannada Medium fame) and Vaishnavi (of Mithuna Rashi). A love story revolving around two couples, Prema Kavya has got a premiere date on the channel.

Prema Kavya to stream on JioHotstar on...

Prema Kavya will premiere on Monday, August 4 at 6.30 pm on Colors Kannada. It will also be available to stream on JioHotstar (via OTTplay Premium). The show brings Raghu back to Kannada television after 3 years, given that he’d moved to doing Telugu serials after his 4-year-stint as Saket on Nammane Yuvarani. The actor plays Mahadeva, while Vikas will be seen as his cousin Ram, a doctor who stays back in their village as per his mother’s wishes.

Priya, meanwhile, is Prema, whose world revolves around her family, consisting of her father, mother and sister Kavya. Besides harbouring feelings for Ram, Prema is also fixated on ensuring that Kavya is able to fulfil her dream of becoming a scientist.

Raghu, who has a mass action image in Kannada, was initially reluctant to take up the role in Prema Kavya. Mahadeva, he said, gives off an angry young man vibe, but he’s a softie at heart, who dotes on his speech-impaired sister. Prema Kavya is said to be the Kannada remake of the Tamil show Sindhu Bhairavi.

In recent times, popular serials like Vadhu and Lakshmi Baramma had ended, as also the talk show Majaa Talkies and reality show Boys vs Girls. The GEC is now filling those slots with shows like Nandagokula (which is already on air), Prema Kavya, which begins shortly, as well as Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12, which is expected to kick off in late September.
