Sivakarthikeyan's Prince, which hit the screens on October 21, was one among the two Deepavali releases in Tamil this year. The comic caper directed by Anudeep carried good expectations owing to his debut movie in Telugu turning out to be a blockbuster. With two continuous hits, Siva's current form, too, was a reason for film buffs to look forward to the movie.

However, the project opened to mixed reviews, thanks to its unengaging screenplay, weak characters and ineffective conflict. The movie, which was released as a bilingual film, couldn't succeed in attracting the audience in both Tamil and Telugu.

Prince is now ready for its digital premiere. The film will drop on Disney+ Hotstar on November 25. An official announcement on the same was made recently. Ukrainian actress Maria Ryaboshapka plays the female lead in the movie which has Sathyaraj, Premgi Amaren and Subbu Panchu among others essaying notable roles.

Thaman's background score and Manoj Paramahamsa's cinematography are a few positive aspects of the film. Sivakarthikeyan's performance and his chemistry between Sathyaraj in emotional scenes and comic sequences garnered positive response from film buffs.

Prince is Anudeep's sophomore directorial project and Siva's second outing this year after the blockbuster Don. Soori and Anandraj play cameos in the film. The sequence featuring the former ended up a crashing bore while some of the latter's one-liners evoked laughter from the audience.

Suniel Narang, D Suresh Babu and Pushkar Ram Mohan Rao have jointly bankrolled the movie which has been edited by Praveen KL. The film was Sivakarthikeyan's first Deepavali release in his decade-long career.
